Dancing into the future!

The Your Pathway Team recently sat down with our latest student to complete an industry recognised qualification while completing her Year 11 studies.

Amity Boston is a very proactive member of the MMCC Arts community and is clearly passionate about forging a pathway for herself that is connected to the arts. We love the fact that Amity is building a multi-facetted pathway that will keep her open to a range of choices throughout her life.

Well done Amity!

What is the qualification that you have recently completed and with whom?

The qualification that I recently completed is a Certificate 2 in dance and I have completed this qualification with Radiance dance academy, Toowoomba.

I understand that you have been working on this certificate throughout Year 10, how long has it taken you to complete this cert?

I began working on this cert in early last year and finished it by the end of the year.

What was the most beneficial or most enjoyable part of completing this Certificate?

I would say the most beneficial part of completing this certificate would be that it is something I love to do and that I can now do it on more of a professional level. I started dancing when I was 2 and a half so it is rewarding to see that I am able to turn something that I have loved forever, into not only a job option but a career for my life outside of school.

What’s next for you in the field of Dance, are you looking to investigate other qualifications you can complete while you are completing your secondary education?

So, at the start of this year I began completing a Certificate 3 in dance, through that same dance school, and hopefully by the end of this year I will also have a certificate 3 qualification as well as my Certificate 2. With this, I hope to further my qualification and next year complete a Certificate 4 also in dance which will help me become more qualified as a dancer.

If we could fast forward 5 or 10 years from now, what would do you see yourself doing?

If we were to fast forward 5 or 10 years from now, I would hope to see myself either professionally dancing, or sharing my knowledge as a dancer by teaching classes or opening my dance business. As well as dance, I would hope to be either graduating from a duel degree in nursing and paramedic science or staring this course in uni.
